"Christians": How do you know you love God more than money if you will not give all you have to the poor?

Many Christians are poor themselves. Laws of today do not give much room for this, those that gave all they had to the poor, if they were poor, would not be able to take care of their own, for they arent allowed to legally live however they choose, in tents, campers, etc...
